Fairhaven High School is an architectural gem inside and out. Greenwood and TWC Phoenix both participated in a massive restoration project on the facility. Greenwood installed small flat roofs and sections of slate, as well as copper. TWC Phoenix worked inside and out, waterproofing, as well as repairing and repointing masonry.
Originally constructed in 1916, this 6,000 seat arena received a re-roof of its EPDM roofing system and a replacement of exterior metal panels on each of the building’s sides.
The New York State Capitol Courtyard is a roof system that protects the building’s systems such as water and HVAC. Greenwood Industries performed an extensive restoration on the copper Hawk Street Passage and the exterior courtyard to bring them closer to the capitol architect’s original vision. The exterior area was formerly an inaccessible EPDM roof, but is now a paver deck that can be enjoyed by workers and visitors. The project won both a Copper in Architecture Award and an ENR Award of Merit.
Boetelle Elementary is covered by several steep slope metal roofs. Greenwood re-roofed these standing seam roofs as well as installed exterior metal wall panels to ensure the school has a high efficiency building envelope.
In preparations for the church’s 100 year anniversary, St. Mary’s received a full re-roof. This re-roof included both the Ludowici Tile steep slope roofs but also the EPDM flat seam roofs. The tile roofs were selected to match the church’s historic charm and ensure it looked like new for its centennial birthday.
Greenwood not only re-roofed Slade Middle School’s flat roofs with a more efficient Sarnafil roofing system, the project included an interesting upgrade for its steep slope roofs. Instead of replacing the metal roofs in kind, the Sika Décor Roof system was used to match the look of a standing seem metal roof but with the efficiency and low-cost of a PVC roof.
Formerly known to locals as “The Dunk” a major re-roof was conducted of the Amica Mutal Pavilion’s main roof. The large roof houses a 14,000 person capacity arena and was re-roofed with a Siplast bitumen roof system.
Housed in a historic train station building, Greenwood served as general contractor on an extensive restoration on the Buzzard’s Bay Chamber of Commerce building envelope. This included a Ludowici tile re-roof to match the historic roof, repairs to the tower chimney, support colums and other work to make the 19th century building shine.
The current home of Boston’s iconic Citgo sign, the Kenmore Beacon received a full modernization that included a full re-roof. In addition to TPO roofs the building also received multiple paver decks looking out on the Fenway district.
