]]> The Ragon Institute, a collaborative effort between Mass General Brigham, MIT, and Harvard, is dedicated to advancing medical research into immune system diseases, particularly HIV/AIDS. Its newly opened headquarters in Cambridge, MA, exemplifies innovation and sustainability—and features a remarkable green roof expertly installed by Greenwood Industries.

This state-of-the-art building is LEED Gold Certified and designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. The roof is a standout feature, incorporating advanced blue roof systems for water retention and management, alongside energy-efficient materials and a lush, striking green roof.

The roof itself is an architectural marvel. Spanning 24,700 square feet, it is installed on a Versico Roof System and features a dramatic slope with significant elevation changes between its highest and lowest points. The green roof blankets the entire incline, creating the effect of a verdant, man-made hill in the heart of Kendall Square. Such a large and complex green roof installation, particularly on a sloped design, presented unique challenges.
